Why Invest in Specialized Couples Therapy?
Renata Creech, M.Ed., LPC
Couples therapy should not be another place where the same argument repeats.
When you are dealing with recurring conflict, betrayal, emotional distance, or uncertainty about the future of the relationship, you need more than a neutral listener. You need therapy that is active, structured, and focused on what happens between you in real time.
I bring over 10 years of clinical experience to this work, along with ongoing specialized training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, affair recovery, destructive conflict, and repair.
The goal is to understand the pattern clearly enough that you can stop repeating it and begin responding differently.
FAQs
-
It depends on your situation and goals. Most couples begin with weekly sessions and start by focusing on understanding the patterns that keep them stuck. As progress is made, some couples choose to transition to less frequent appointments.
-
Yes. Many couples seek therapy after an affair, betrayal, or significant breach of trust. Therapy can help partners make sense of what happened, process the impact of the betrayal, rebuild trust when appropriate, and determine how they want to move forward.
-
That is very common. In many relationships, one partner is ready to begin therapy while the other is feeling hesitant, skeptical, or unsure whether it will help.
You do not need to be fully convinced that therapy will work in order to begin. What is most important is a willingness to participate in the process and explore what is happening in the relationship. Often, as we begin to better understand the patterns underneath the conflict, both partners gain greater clarity about what they want and what is possible moving forward.
-
I require at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling requests. Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be subject to the full session fee.
-
Sometimes. While couples therapy primarily involves meeting together, there are situations where individual sessions may be helpful. If I believe individual meetings would benefit the treatment process, we can discuss that together.
-
I work with heterosexual couples, LGBTQ+ couples and nonbinary or gender nonconforming people and relationships.
I do not provide co-parenting therapy. If a couple decides to move forward with separation or divorce, I am happy to provide referrals.
